Just thought I would try it. It almost took longer to find thee perfect onion than to paint it. I am sure anyone watching me look through the onion pile in produce would have wondered about me....
hhehe, another artist would totally 'get it' - buying food for esthetics as well as nutrition (it means you have to paint fast before it spoils, too!) :-)
One of the first still life paintings I did included pears. They were of course the biggest pears I had ever seen which is what inspired me to paint them.. It took longer than I had imagined and I had to replace the pear part of the arrangement.. I went to every store I could think of and could not find any, even remotely the perfection of those first pears! It was incredible to me that there just weren't any that measured up.
Painting in the moment, outside, being in the open air and connecting with the light and mood of a place are what drive me to paint outside in all seasons and sometimes challenging weather conditions.
